About the Designer:
Designer: Lisa Larson (Sweden, 1931-2024)
Lisa Larson was a Swedish ceramist and designer, born 1931 in Härlunda. She is primarily known for her work with ceramic figures and sculptures, especially during her time at Gustavsbergs Porslinsfabrik (1954 to 1980) where she worked together with Stig Lindberg. After Gustavsberg she worked for Duka, Höganäs, Rosenthal, Rörstrand and finally during the period 1990 to 1992 at Jie Gantofta. When Jie went bankrupt in 1992, Larson returned to the premises in Gustavsberg where she started her own company, Keramikstudion AB.
Lisa Larson's work is often characterized by playful, characterful figures of children and animals, with a unique style and personality. Many of her sculptures are presented in series, such as Lilla Zoo (1955), ABC Girls (1958), and Adventsbarn (1979). Lisa Larson has had a great influence on the world of ceramics, and her works are highly valued and coveted by collectors worldwide. The figures "Samhällsdebatten" and "Pippi" are among her most sought-after models, along with her unique stoneware sculptures. Lisa died in 2024.
